When gripping thin walled parts in a manual chuck it is often a challenge to hold the part rigidly enough to machine it without distorting or crushing the part, sometimes referred to as tri-lobing. Dimac designed and made Pinch Jaws can effectively solve this issue. When fitted to a manual chuck the jaws are brought into contact with the work piece (either internal or external) as a centering operation then the leadscrew on the Pinch Jaws is turned to drive the moving jaw onto the work piece thereby “pinching” the wall of the part and holding it securely for machining.
